“Charged me $240 for what the place down the road quoted at $150. The work was fine. I still feel stitched up.”

Drafted by Rank Pilot · waiting for you

Marcus, that is a fair thing to be annoyed about, and I would rather explain than argue. The $240 covered a diagnostic and a part the other quote left out, and I should have walked you through that before we started. Send me the other quote and I will go through it line by line. If I got it wrong, I will put it right.

Was this a real customer?

Read this before you pay anyone

If a review is a real customer describing a real experience, it will almost certainly stay, and a promise to remove it for money is one nobody can keep. Some of them are running the extortion at both ends: leave the reviews, then sell you the cleanup. Google has no paid removal channel and nobody has a back door into one.

  • Google decides. No agency, and no tool, gets a say in it.
  • A spotless five-star profile can look less believable, not more.
  • What strangers judge you on is how you answered the bad one.

Which reviews come off, in brief

Google takes a review down only when it breaks its content policy: fake engagement, a conflict of interest such as a competitor or a former employee, off-topic posts, harassment or hate speech, someone’s private details, unsupported accusations. A genuine customer describing a genuine bad visit stays, however unfair it feels, and so does a bare one-star.

The report itself is yours to file, from your own profile, with one appeal per review in Google’s Reviews Management Tool and a separate legal form for reviews you believe are unlawful. Every menu, status and step is in our guide how to delete a Google review.

Review removal services, in brief

Rarely in the way they sell it. A service can report a review that breaks a policy, which you can do yourself in ten minutes. What it cannot do honestly is make a genuine review disappear.

Google sells no removal and gives no agency special access, so a service files the same report you can. Its guarantees, its prices and the risk it leaves on your profile are weighed in our guide do review removal services work?

When it stays, the reply is the whole fix

Own the specific thing, say what has changed, invite them back. Four sentences, written for the next stranger reading it rather than for the person who left it, because that stranger is the one still deciding whether to call you.

  • Drafted the next time Rank Pilot checks your reviews, which it does every four hours.
  • Accountable rather than defensive, which is what a reader is checking for.
  • Never posted until you have read it. This is the one worth reading.
  • Angry at midnight is when owners write the reply they regret.

Google will not remove this one: it is an honest opinion about price and it breaks no policy. Answering it is the only move you have, and it happens to be the one that works.

Some reviews it will not answer for you

A review that threatens legal action, or one that looks fake, gets no draft. Rank Pilot sets it aside, because the right move there is a report to Google or a word with your lawyer, not a reply written by software.

  • Everything else gets a draft in your voice. Save it, and with Autopilot on (the default) it goes out two hours later.
  • Reporting stays with you, from your own profile.

Straight answers

Bad reviews, answered. What owners ask next.

  • How long does Google take to decide on a reported review?

Google does not publish a deadline. A decision often comes within a few days, and the report’s status in the Reviews Management Tool changes when it does.

  • Should I reply to a review I have reported?

Yes, briefly and calmly. The report can take days and may not succeed, so the reply speaks for you meanwhile, and if Google does remove the review, your reply goes with it.

  • Can I delete my profile and start again to lose the bad reviews?

No. Google keeps reviews with the business’s place, and a second profile for the same business breaks its rules on duplicates and can get the business suspended.
