For hair salons and barbershops

Clients scroll the photos before they ever call the shop.

Someone searches “balayage near me” or “barber open now”, opens the top three, and judges all three on the pictures. Run a free scan and see which of those searches you turn up in.

Why salons are different

Nobody reads a salon listing. They scroll it.

The decision gets made with a thumb. Someone opens the top three, scrolls each grid, and books the one whose work looks like the head they want.

Google’s own guidance says listings with photos get more clicks and direction requests. What sits on most shop profiles is still the opening-week set: empty chairs, the new sign, the tiling. No hair in any of it, and nothing added since.

The other half is what the work gets called, and the client picks the words. Nobody types “colour services”. They type balayage, a money piece, curtain bangs, a skin fade, a taper — vocabulary that turns over every couple of years.

Meet the agent

Rank Pilot keeps the profile as busy as the shop.

On a salon floor there is no such thing as the person who does the Google listing. Rank Pilot is that person: an AI agent whose whole job is getting the shop found on Google Maps.

You shot the place the week you got the keys, and the profile has not changed since. Rank Pilot prompts you for photos on a schedule and posts them.

It writes the menu out in the words clients use: balayage and a money piece, not “colour”. Skin fade and taper, not “gents’ cut”. And it maintains that list as the words change.

Reviews run on the same clock: a request after the appointment, a draft reply to everything that lands, nothing public until you approve.

Hi [first name] — thanks for coming in today. If the cut still looks right in the morning, would you leave the shop a quick review? Twenty seconds, and it helps the next person find us.

Leave a review

sent 40 minutes after the appointment

An example of the request, not a message anybody was sent. Rank Pilot does the asking; the words in the review are always the client’s.

  • 01

    Keeps photos coming

Prompts you for shots of real work, then posts them, so the profile never looks like the shop closed.

  • 02

    Speaks client, not trade

Balayage, money piece, skin fade, tape-ins. Written the way people say it, and rewritten when they start saying something else.

  • 03

Asks while it still looks fresh

The request goes out shortly after they leave, when the blow-dry or the fade is the best it will ever look.

  • 04

    Replies to the hard ones

The price, the wait, the colour that did not match the photo. Your voice, same day, approved by you.

What it does

Six jobs, running while you are on the floor.

None of them need you to be sitting at a computer.

  • 1

Reads the map from 49 points

Searching your own name tells you nothing. The grid checks 49 separate spots across the area you draw from, and marks the holes.

  • 2

    Rebuilds the listing properly

The category corrected, the hours right on bank holidays, the phone number matching your booking page, and the whole menu written out.

  • 3

    Keeps the photos current

New work onto the profile on a schedule. Not forty in one afternoon and then nothing until next year.

  • 4

    Asks every client, every visit

Somebody back in your chair every few weeks is a chance most trades never get. The request goes out after each appointment.

  • 5

    Answers the review that stings

The price, the wait, the colour that came out darker than the picture. A reply drafted in your voice, same day.

  • 6

Tells you the day the map turns

A new shop opens two doors down. Your pin drops off the first screen for a Saturday search. You hear the day it happens.

What actually happens, and when

The listing changes this week. The map takes longer.

Week one

Work from this month at the front of the grid, instead of the empty chairs from the week you opened. The menu reads in full and in client words, and old reviews have replies. Requests start reaching clients as they leave.

All of it visible on your own profile. You can check every item yourself.

Month three

About where rankings tend to start moving, as photo activity, a complete service list and steady reviews stack up together.

Usually. Not always, and never guaranteed by us.

Nobody can make it faster, and anyone who promises to is lying to you.

What changes on the page clients actually see.

What a stranger can find out about you at nine at night, on their phone, before they have met anybody.

On your own

  • The newest photo on your profile is from the week you opened.
  • Your listing names the shop and nothing it actually does.
  • Only the clients who loved it enough to think of it leave a review.
  • You drop out of the top three and find out from a quiet Tuesday.

With Rank Pilot

  • New work on the listing every month, prompted and posted for you.
  • The menu written in client words — balayage, skin fade, tape-ins — and rewritten as those words change.
  • Every client asked, every visit, whether the shop is flat out or empty.
  • Told the day your pin slips, and which shop moved into the space.

Rank Pilot never writes, buys or incentivises a review. Google suspends profiles for it.

What it costs

One plan, whether it is one chair or ten.

No setup fee and no contract. The photo prompts and the review replies are not an add-on — they are the plan.

Straight answers

What salon and barbershop owners ask us first.

  • I post on Instagram every day. Isn’t that enough?

Instagram reaches people who already know you exist. Somebody hunting for a colourist tonight, or a barber still open at seven, does not. Google shows them the photos on your Business Profile instead. The same pictures go in both places.

  • Do I take the photos, or do you?

You take them. Nobody can shoot your work except the person behind the chair. Where the plan says fresh photos, it means prompting you and getting the shots onto the profile. A phone and the window light is enough.

  • Can a review name the stylist who did the work?

Usually, yes: the request can mention who they sat with, and people write down what they remember. What we will not do is tell a client what to say. The message asks for an honest account. The words are theirs.

  • My stylists rent their own chairs. Whose profile is it?

The shop’s profile is the one we work on: the address is what people search near. Google does allow an individual practitioner their own listing at a shared address, but the two then compete. Separate premises means a separate listing and a separate $79.

  • Is asking every client for a review allowed?

Asking is allowed. What Google’s policy forbids is offering something in return — a discount, a free fringe trim, a place in a prize draw. So we ask plainly after the appointment, and never write a review, buy one, or pay for one.
