Who each one is for
Two good tools.Built for different people.
BrightLocal and Rank Pilot both work on local search, but one is a workbench and the other is a worker. Which fits depends on who will sit at the screen each week.
BrightLocal
BrightLocal describes itself as local SEO software for agencies and consultants, and says more than 7,500 agencies use it. Its plans bundle a rank tracker, a Local Search Grid, citation monitoring, SEO and profile audits, and reports you can brand as your own.
It suits someone who manages many locations or many clients and wants to choose the keywords, read the data and decide the work. A business owner can use it too, but most of its tools measure and report; a person still decides and does the weekly work.
Rank Pilot
Rank Pilot is built for the owner of one business, or a few locations, who has no marketer and no time to learn a dashboard. It checks the profile, drafts a reply to every review and a post each week, and tracks rank and rivals.
You read what it prepared and save it. There are no keywords to configure and no reports to assemble, and nothing changes on your profile without you seeing it first.

Where BrightLocal wins
Where BrightLocal is the better pick.Said plainly.
If any of these is the job you need done, BrightLocal does it and Rank Pilot does not.
Citations and listings
BrightLocal’s Citation Builder has a team submit your details to directories by hand, from $2 to $3.20 per citation with no subscription, plus data aggregators at $30 each. Rank Pilot does not build citations.
Agency reporting
Every paid BrightLocal plan can carry your agency’s logo and colours, and each client can get a dashboard link of their own. Rank Pilot has no white-label reports.
Review invitations by SMS
On the Grow plan, BrightLocal sends invitations to leave a review by email, SMS or QR code and watches reviews on more than 80 sites. Rank Pilot works only with the reviews you already have.
Many locations, deeper SEO
BrightLocal lists price bands up to 100 locations, local SEO audits and tracking of up to 100 keywords, with larger grids up to 15 × 15. That is a wider SEO scope than Rank Pilot covers.
Where Rank Pilot wins
Where Rank Pilot does more. The work, not the report.
One plan at $79 a month per location, with the work prepared for you each week rather than measured and left on your desk.
Every review gets a drafted reply
New reviews are pulled every four hours and Rank Pilot drafts a reply to each in your voice. You save it, and with Autopilot on the saved reply goes out two hours later.
A post written every week
BrightLocal can schedule a post you wrote. Rank Pilot drafts one each week from your profile and publishes it once you save it.
Nothing to configure
No keyword lists, grid sizes or report templates. The 25-point grid, a monthly audit and the Monday email of what changed arrive without a setup session.
Rivals and AI answers watched
Rank Pilot follows each competitor’s rank, rating, review count, photos and primary category, and checks once a month whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers name you.

Does BrightLocal have a trial or a contract?
