7 ways to get more Google reviews

None of them needs a tool or a budget. Each one makes leaving a review easier for a customer who is already happy to.

  1. Get your review link

In your Business Profile, choose “Ask for reviews” and copy the short link. One link works for every customer, so save it once.

  2. Ask when the job is done

People write about what just happened to them. Ask at the moment the work is finished, not a month later.

  3. Keep it to two sentences

Thank them, say an honest review helps other people find you, and send the link. No script and no pressure.

  4. Put a QR code where people wait

At the desk, on the counter or on the receipt, so leaving a review takes one scan with the phone already in their hand.

  5. Add the link to a message you already send

The appointment follow-up or the “your car is ready” text is the natural place for it, and nobody has to remember anything.

  6. Ask everyone the same way

Not just the customers who seem happy. Choosing who gets the link is review gating, and Google does not allow it.

  7. Answer every review you get

Replies show the next customer that reviews are read. Rank Pilot drafts one for each: see every Google review answered on Autopilot.

Start with your review link.It takes a minute to find.

Google gives every business a short link that opens the review form straight away. Open your Business Profile (search your business name on Google while signed in, or use Google Business Profile Manager), choose “Ask for reviews” and copy the link it shows you.

  • The same link works for every customer, so save it once.
  • Turn it into a QR code for the counter or the reception desk.
  • Paste it into the message or receipt you already send after a visit.
  • Open it on your own phone first, so you see what customers will see.

Put it where customers already look
  • A QR code at the desk
  • The bottom of the receipt
  • The message you send after the visit

Ask when the work is finished.Every trade has its moment.

People write about what just happened to them. Ask too early and there is nothing to say yet; ask a month later and they have moved on.

Dental practices and clinics
When the treatment is complete, not after the first of several appointments.
Salons and barbers
At the end of the appointment, once they have seen the result in the mirror.
Garages
At handover, with the keys, or in the message saying the car is ready.
Plumbers, electricians, HVAC
When the job is signed off and working, not while you are still packing up.
Physio and chiropractic
At the end of a course of treatment, when they are discharged.
Law firms
When the matter is closed, never while the case is still running.

What to say: two sentences, the same for everyone

Thank them, say an honest review helps other people find you, and give them the link. Ask every customer the same way, whatever you expect them to write.

  • Ask for an honest review, never for five stars.
  • Send the link itself; every extra tap loses people.
  • Ask once. A single reminder is plenty.
  • Never tell them what to write, and never offer anything back.
Something you could send

What never to do.Each of these can cost you the profile.

Google removes reviews that break its policy and can restrict a profile that keeps collecting them. In the US, the FTC rule on fake reviews and testimonials, in force since October 2024, allows civil penalties for fake or bought reviews and for hiding honest ones.

  • Rewarding a reviewNo discount, gift or prize draw in return for a review, good or bad. Google does not allow incentives at all.
  • Asking only the happy onesChoosing who gets the link by how satisfied they seem is review gating, and Google does not allow it. Ask everyone.
  • Buying or swapping reviewsReviews from people who were never customers, bought from a service or traded with another business, are fake reviews.
  • Reviews from your own sideStaff, family or you yourself reviewing the business is a conflict of interest that Google removes.

The asking stays yours.Rank Pilot takes what comes after.

Rank Pilot does not contact your customers. It checks your profile for new reviews every few hours and drafts a reply to each one, in your voice, so none of them sits there unanswered.

  • A reply drafted for every new review; you save it, and with Autopilot on it goes out on its own.
  • A review that threatens legal action or looks fake gets no draft. That one stays with you.
  • Your rank checked from 25 points across your area, every Monday.
  • The rating and review count of the businesses above you, compared scan to scan.

Nothing goes out until you save it.

Its replies sound like your trade

A thank-you from a dental practice does not read like one from a roofing crew, and a reply that sounds templated does you more harm than none.

  • 1

    Knows the tone

Warm where your customers expect warmth, brief and plain where they do not.

  • 2

    Knows the difficult ones

A calm, specific answer to a complaint, written for the next customer who reads it as much as for the one who left it.

  • 3

    Knows when to step back

A review that threatens legal action or looks fake gets no draft, so you decide what happens next.

Straight answers

What people ask first.Straight answers.

  • How long until I see results?

Rank Pilot starts on your profile and reviews in the first week. Places in search usually change within 30–90 days. You see what changed in the report every Monday.

  • Will you get me to the top?

We don’t promise that: places on Google Maps can’t be bought or assigned by hand. Rank Pilot does everything your place depends on, and shows you every week where you’re seen.

  • Is Rank Pilot a person or software?

It’s an AI agent. It works on its own, every day, with no days off: it optimises your Google Maps profile, drafts a reply to every review and watches the businesses above you.

  • Do you need access to my Google?

Not for the check. For Rank Pilot to start work, you connect your Google profile once. You can disconnect it any time.

  • Do you write fake reviews?

No. Google blocks businesses for fake reviews. Rank Pilot answers the real reviews your customers leave.

  • Will you phone me?

No. Rank Pilot writes everything you need in your account, and sends a report every Monday.
