Ask Maps checker: does the Google Maps AI name your business?
Pick your business. We put five questions your customers ask to Gemini, grounded on Google Maps data near you, and show every answer with the places it was based on, who was named instead and what your own profile lacks.

- 01
We read your profile
Your trade, your city and your location come from your Google profile, so the questions sound like the ones people near you type. You can override the trade and the city if the profile gets them wrong.
- 02
We ask Gemini with Google Maps
Five questions go to Gemini with Grounding with Google Maps switched on, asked from where your business stands. Each answer comes back word for word, with the Google Maps places it was based on.
- 03
We mark and suggest
We mark whether each answer named you and list the places named instead. Where you were left out, we name what your own profile lacks of what the answers read: a description, hours, a website, secondary categories.
What a result looks like
The verdicts from a run for a dental clinic in London. In a real run, each question opens to Gemini’s answer word for word, followed by the Google Maps places it was based on.

What Ask Maps is, and why this check is a simulation
Ask Maps is Gemini answering questions inside the Google Maps app. Someone types a whole question, such as which dentist nearby sees children on a Saturday, and gets a short written answer naming a few places, drawn from what Google Maps knows about them.
This page cannot open the app on your customer’s phone. It asks Gemini through Google’s own API, reading Google Maps places data from your location, which is what Ask Maps answers from. That makes it close to what a customer sees, not a copy of it, and every result says it was simulated.
Treat one run as a snapshot, not a score. Answers change from run to run, so ask again a few weeks after you change your profile and compare what comes back.
For where Ask Maps works and how it picks the places it names, read our guide to Google Ask Maps.

Questions owners ask
Is this the same as asking Ask Maps in the app?
Close, not identical. Ask Maps runs inside the app with the person’s own context. This check asks Gemini with Google Maps data from your business’s location, so it reads the same kind of places data, and each result is labelled as simulated.
Which questions do you ask?
Five questions a customer near you would type for your trade and your city, written in the language of this page. Gemini answers in the same language, and every question is shown in the result.
Do you keep the answers?
No. Gemini’s answers and their sources are shown once, on this page, and there is no saved link to them. We keep only whether each question named you, and the date.
How do I get named more often?
Give Google Maps true sentences to repeat: the most specific main category, every service in your customers’ words, exact hours, the attributes that apply, and replies to your reviews.
How many times can I run it?
Up to 3 runs a day from one connection, because every run asks Gemini five questions grounded on Google Maps data.
